Calibration of 1Zpresso Grinders
There are three types of adjustment designs for 1Zpresso grinders, including internal adjustment, top adjustment and external adjustment. Many people might be curious about how to calibrate each of them. Therefore, today we’re going to explain to you.
How to Find the Zero Point / Starting Point?
First of all, we would like to define the zero point / starting point of our grinders. Turn the adjustment dial clock-wise all the way to find the zero point / starting point of the grinders. We define it to be at the point which the crank handle won’t rotate drastically instead of its tightest.
For people who have the Q2 / JX / JE, which are equipped with the internal adjustment, congratulations, you’ve already found the starting point by turning the adjustment dial clockwise till the crank handle won’t rotate drastically. The numbers on the dial are designed for counting how many steps you’ve turned and therefore the starting point is not necessary to be at #0.
Generally, the top adjustment shares the same concept with the internal adjustment that the numbers on the dial are designed for counting how many steps you’ve turned and therefore the starting point is not necessary to be at #0. However, if you would like to set the starting point to #0, please follow the few steps below:
Step 1. When the dot points to #1/#2/#3 instead of #0 at the tightest, please simply remove the adjustment nut (by twisting it counterclockwise).
Step 2. Adjust the knurled thumb nut counter-clockwise by 1/2/3 clicks.
Step 3. Screw back the adjustment nut and the starting point should be at #0 (±2 clicks).
For the K-Pro and K-Plus, to set your grinders to zero, please follow these steps:
Step 1. Tighten the adjustment dial counter-clockwise and ensure the gap inside is fully closed.
- If the red dot is at the right of #0, loosen the adjustment dial clockwise a little bit, push the burr from the bottom and loosen the knurled thumb nut counter-clockwise.
- If the red dot is at the left of #0, note the clicks of distance from #0 (for example, 12 clicks), loosen the adjustment dial clockwise a little bit, push the burr from the bottom and tightened the knurled thumb nut counter-clockwise by 12/2 = 6 clicks.
Step 3. Repeat step 1 and 2 until the red dot points to #0.
