Turn the adjustment dial ring counter-clockwise to make the grinds finer and vice versa. The number (#) on the dial pointer indicates a finer or coarser grind setting. The smaller numbers refer to the finer grind setting, vice versa.
There are 9 numbers/90 clicks in a single rotation; every clicks moves the burr by 0.022mm/22 microns.
Ensure the grinder is well-calibrated after reassembling the grinder. Read the calibration guide below or the calibration tutorial post.
Remove the handle and put coffee beans into the hopper. The maximum capacity of K-Pro grinder is around 30~35g and K-Plus grinder is around 35g~40g.
Grind coffee beans clockwise with the handle attached.
Diassembly
Demonstrating with the K-Plus grinder. Note: Please follow the tutorial step by step.
Turn the adjustment dial clockwise to coarser grind settings as the burrs open up.
Loosen the knurled thumb nut counter-clockwise while pushing the burr and take out the upper bearing cap and the upper bearing.
Take out the shaft, burr, lower bearing cover および spring.
Remove the burr ring unit and the adjustment dial clockwise from the grinder.
Clean each of the parts with a brush and an air blower.
Assembly
Turn the entire adjustment dial counter-clockwise to the tightest position.
Turn the adjustment dial ring clockwise to coarser grind settings.
Turn the burr ring unit counter-clockwise to the tightest position. Do not overtighten it and stop when you feel resistance.
Put the components back in the right sequence: lower bearing cap (the raised edge side facing upward), spring, shaft および burr.
Put the parts back in the right sequence while pressing the burr: upper bearing, upper bearing cap (the concave edge of the cap facing upward and ensure to put the upper bearing cap back in the correct direction).
Turn the knurled thumb nut clockwise while pushing the burr and stop when you feel resistance.
Turn the adjustment dial to the zero setting and see if the indicator aligns with #0. Read the calibration guide below if it is not aligned with #0.
Warning
Do not attempt to disassemble or remove the following parts any further:
You would need to either loosen or tighten the knurled thumb nut or the adjustment dial to calibrate the grinder.
It is common for the zero point of the adjustment dial to be around two or more clicks away due to the strength you use to tighten the knurled thumb nut.
We define the zero point as where the handle starts to spin with resistance instead of the tightest position. Please do not overtighten the dial to prevent it from getting stuck.
Instructions
Ensure to calibrate the grinder step by step.
Ensure to calibrate the grinder step by step:
Turn the adjustment dial ring counter-clockwise all the way until the handle starts to spin with resistance (the zero point).
Ensure the central shaft is not loose or installed incorrectly.
The grinder is well-calibrated if the dot is at #0 when the adjustment dial ring is at its zero point.
Read the following steps for calibration if you don’t get #0 for the zero point.
If the red dot is pointing at the right side of #0
Turn the adjustment dial ring clockwise to a coarser setting as the gap inside the adjustment dial ring enlarges.
Loosen the knurled thumb nut counter-clockwise a little bit while pressing the burr from the bottom. Turn the adjustment dial ring counter-clockwise back to its zero settings and see what number (#) the red dot points at.
Repeat this step or the next step until the grinder is calibrated.
If the red dot is pointing at the leftside of #0
Turn the adjustment dial ring clockwise to a coarser setting as the gap inside the adjustment dial ring enlarges.
Tighten the knurled thumb nut clockwise a little bit while pressing the burr from the bottom. Turn the adjustment dial ring counter-clockwise back to its zero settings and see what number (#) the red dot points at.
Repeat this step or the step above until the grinder is calibrated.
