Adjusting the grind setting
Turn the adjustment dial ring counter-clockwise to make the grinds finer and vice versa. The number (#) on the dial pointer indicates a finer or coarser grind setting. The smaller numbers refer to the finer grind setting, vice versa.
There are 9 numbers/90 clicks in a single rotation; every clicks moves the burr by 0.022mm/22 microns.
Ensure the grinder is well-calibrated after reassembling the grinder. Read the calibration guide below or the calibration tutorial post.
Remove the handle and put coffee beans into the hopper. The maximum capacity of K-Pro grinder is around 30~35g and K-Plus grinder is around 35g~40g.
Grind coffee beans clockwise with the handle attached.
Diassembly
Demonstrating with the K-Plus grinder. Note: Kindly follow the step-by-step with the tutorial.
Turn the adjustment dial clockwise to the coarser grind setting as the burr moving down.
Loosen the knurled thumb nut counter-clockwise while pushing the burr and take out the upper bearing cap and the upper bearing.
Take out the shaft, burr, lower bearing cover and spring.
Remove the burr ring unit and the adjustment dial clockwise from the grinder.
Clean each of the parts with a brush and an air blower.
Assembly
Turn the adjustment dial counter-clockwise to the tightest position. Be sure to do not overtighten and stop when you feel resistance.
Turn the adjustment dial clockwise to the coarser grind setting.
Turn the burr ring unit counter-clockwise to the tightest position. Be sure to do not overtighten and stop when you feel resistance.
Put the components back in the right sequence: lower bearing cap (the raised edge side facing upward), spring, shaft and burr.
Put the components back in the right sequence while pressing the burr: upper bearing, upper bearing cap (the concave edge of the cap facing upward and ensure insert the upper bearing cap with correct direction).
Turn the knurled thumb nut clockwise while pushing the burr and stop when you feel resistance.
Turn the adjustment dial to the zero setting and observe its number (#) whether on the #0. Read the calibration guide below if not pointing at the #0.
Warning
Do not attempt to disassemble or remove the following components any further:
You would need to either loosen or tighten the knurled thumb nut or the adjustment dial to calibrate the grinder.
It is common for the starting point of the adjustment dial to be around two or more clicks away due to the strength you use to tighten the knurled thumb nut.
Instructions
Ensure to calibrate the grinder step by step.
Turn adjustment dial ring counter-clockwise to the zero/tightest settings.
Ensure the central shaft is not loose nor installed incorrectly.
The grinder is well-calibrated if the dot is at #0 when the adjustment dial ring is at its tightest position. Read the following steps for calibration if you don’t get #0 for the zero setting.
If the red dot is pointing at the right side of #0
Memorize how many clicks the red dot is away from “0”. Turn the adjustment dial ring clockwise to a coarser setting as the gap inside the adjustment dial ring enlarges.
Gently press the burr while loosening the knurled thumb nut counter-clockwise by the number of the click divided two. Turn/retighten the adjustment dial ring counter-clockwise to its zero settings and see what number (#) the red dot points at.
Repeat this step or the next step until the grinder is calibrated.
If the red dot is pointing at the left side of #0
Memorize how many clicks the red dot is away from “0”. Turn the adjustment dial ring counter-clockwise to a coarser setting as the gap inside the adjustment dial ring enlarges.
Gently press the burr while loosening the knurled thumb nut clockwise by the number of the click. Turn/retighten the adjustment dial ring counter-clockwise to its zero settings and see what number (#) the red dot points at.
Repeat this step or the step above until the grinder is calibrated.
Precautions
Do not clean and wash the grinder with water.
Do not wipe your grinder with solvents other than water and alcohol.
Keep it in a dry environment in order to extend its lifetime.
