The 1Zpresso J-Ultra is my first premium hand grinder, and it’s a massive upgrade from my old generic ceramic one. Grinding is so much faster and smoother now, and the build quality feels solid and premium. Adjusting the grind size is super easy and precise — the clicks are very clear, and dialing in for espresso or pour-over is simple.
The design overall is great, but if I could suggest anything for future versions, it would be a more portable or foldable handle for easier travel. It would also be cool to see a version with a clear window, just to watch the grinding process.
Overall, super happy with the J-Ultra. It made grinding coffee something I actually look forward to now.

This grinder has been working great for me! I’ve been using it with my Breville/Sage Bambino and medium to dark roast beans.
It didn’t take too long to figure out how the grind settings were numbered. It did take about 5 shots to get the grind size even close to right (not choking the machine) the very first time, but I’m very new to espresso so I think that’s mostly user error. Each click is a really small adjustment!
