How to Use 1Zpresso Bands on your Manual Coffee Grinder?

1Zpresso Bands Tutorials

1Zpresso rubber bands are designed to attach to the grinder for better hand grips so the grinder won’t slip out your hands when grinding the coffee beans.

Before Installation

The grinder needs disassembling before you install the bands.

Where to install the 1Zpresso bands?

The ideal location would be the top or middle body of the grinder where most of the users would grab during grinding coffee beans.

The diameter of the JE-Plus grinder is considerably large for some users.
Attaching the band on the grinder would resolve this issue.

I must admit that we were amazed by the creativity of the customer.
For instance, putting the bands onto the catch-cup to reduce damages in case that the catch-cup falls on the floor.

Do send us an image via the social platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Email) to share what do you think of the most creative and effective way.

Calibration of 1Zpresso Grinders

How to Calibrate 1Zpresso Grinders?

Calibration of 1Zpresso Grinders

There are three types of adjustment designs for 1Zpresso grinders, including internal adjustment, top adjustment and external adjustment. Many people might be curious about how to calibrate each of them. Therefore, today we’re going to explain to you.

How to Find the Zero Point / Starting Point?

First of all, we would like to define the zero point/starting point of our grinders. Turn the adjustment dial clockwise all the way to find the zero point/starting point of the grinders. We define it to be at the point which the crank handle won’t rotate drastically instead of its tightest.

Internal Adjustment

Q2 / JX / JE

For people who have the Q2 / JX / JE, which are equipped with the internal adjustment, congratulations, you’ve already found the starting point by turning the adjustment dial clockwise till the crank handle won’t rotate drastically. The numbers on the dial are designed for counting how many steps you’ve turned and therefore the starting point is not necessary to be at #0.

Top Adjustment

JX-Pro / JE-Plus

Calibrating the 1Zpresso JX-Pro grinder
The full expanded view of JX-Pro grinder

Generally, the top adjustment shares the same concept with the internal adjustment that the numbers on the dial are designed for counting how many steps you’ve turned and therefore the starting point is not necessary to be at #0. However, if you would like to set the starting point to #0, please follow the few steps below:

Step 1. When the dot points to #1/#2/#3 instead of #0 at the tightest, please simply remove the adjustment nut (by twisting it counterclockwise).

Step 2. Adjust the knurled thumb nut counter-clockwise by 1/2/3 clicks.

Step 3. Screw back the adjustment nut and the starting point should be at #0 (±2 clicks).

External Adjustment

K-Pro / K-Plus

For the K-Pro / K-Plus, to set your grinders to zero, please follow these steps:

The full expanded view of K-Pro, K-Plus and K-Max grinder

Step 1. Tighten the adjustment dial counter-clockwise and ensure the gap inside is fully closed.

Calibrating the 1Zpresso K-Pro grinder

Step 2.

  • If the red dot is at the right of #0, loosen the adjustment dial clockwise a little bit, loosen the knurled thumb nut counter-clockwise and re-tighten the dial while pressing the burr from the bottom.
  • If the red dot is at the left of #0, note the clicks of distance from #0 (for example, 12 clicks), loosen the adjustment dial clockwise a little bit, and tightened the knurled thumb nut counter-clockwise by around 12 clicks while pressing the burr from the bottom.

Step 3. Repeat step 1 and 2 until the red dot points to #0.

Calibrating the 1Zpresso K-Pro grinder

External Adjustment

J-Max

The full expanded view of J-Max grinder

The starting point should be where the #0 is aligned with the scale mark, and the bottom edge of the adjustment dial ring touches the first tier of the scale mark.

Tighten or loosen the knurled thumb nut while pressing the burr from the bottom to set the starting point to #0.

How to Set 1Zpresso Grind Settings?

1Zpresso Grind Settings Tutorial

Greetings, fellow coffee-lover.

Do you know how to read the grind setting reference charts of the 1Zpresso manual coffee grinder?
Here is a tutorial for y’all to learn.

I’m personally tired of carefully adjusting the grinder when there are many clicks without knowing where I am.

All the burrs in the grinders were calibrated by the 1Zpresso team to ensure maximum stability over time.
As the outer ring and the burr were built through precision finishing, tolerance is expected and the outer ring and the burr would touch at the first few clicks. Constant touching might damage the burr set.

Many of you know there are many models of 1Zpresso manual coffee grinder.

How to find the Zero Settings?

It is intuitive to adjust the external adjustment design as you could just note where the red dot points.

I think it is quite easy for the internal and top adjustment design as well. Adjust the adjustment dial clockwise till you feel resistance, and that’s the zero setting.

These three kinds of adjustment design share a common point of the zero setting: at the click which the crank handle is unable to move drastically.
